Anabolic Steroids UK - Practitioners
profiles

Practitioners

The UK has a strong track record spanning 30 years of delivering harm reduction services for users of anabolic steroids and associated drugs. While the majority of services are based within needle and syringe programmes (NSP) there is significant variation in the interventions that are provided in addition to the provision of sterile injecting equipment. Not all services are NSP based, with outreach services and interventions within the prison system providing help and support to those using or contemplating the use of anabolic androgenic steroids. The common feature of those services that are successful in attracting and engaging with users (and potential users) of these drugs is the commitment and dedication of the practitioners. Here we provide brief outlines of practitioners across the UK. We hope to build this resource into a comprehensive directory over the coming months, if you are a practitioner and wish to be included in this directory please contact Jim McVeigh or Michael Linnell.

Forrest Bank
Dale.boulding@Sodexogov.co.uk

I have been working as a Recovery in HMP Forest Bank for nearly 20 years. In my role as a recovery worker I have been working with offenders who have had history of AAS and PIED use. I do 1-1 work and also groups with clients who need advice on PIEDS and AAS. I have been delivering this as part of healthy living sessions which can cover diets, why you want to use, training and harm reduction advice . This is not an subject which is not usually discussed in Prison setting as focus can be more on standard substance misuse ie heroin use. Clients have found it useful and informative and hopefully they take away useful information if they want to start when they are released or re commence with using PIED or AAS.
